PRACTICE AREAS: Kurt is a litigation attorney with an emphasis and experience in business and real estate litigation.
Kurt is a trial attorney, representing individual and institutional clients in business and real estate disputes, such as shareholder or partner litigation, commercial litigation, and real estate loan defaults and lien priority challenges. Kurt joined the firm in 2000 and has been a partner since 2007. He is the firm’s managing partner effective January 1, 2021.

Successfully defended client's interest in a share of $6 million net sale proceeds generated from a Chapter 11 bankruptcy sale of an out-of-state apartment complex.
Successfully defended surety client against bond claims of more than $11 million asserted by general contractor; at the same time, assisted bonded subcontractor's recovery of approximately $9 million from general contractor.
Successfully defended clients after jury trial over an alleged covenant to construct a road where the plaintiff was seeking over $700,000 in damages.
Together with co-counsel, successfully pursued over $1 million in securities claims against an investment advisor who had wrongfully diverted clients' investments for his own use.
Pursued construction defect claims on behalf of homeowner client, who was awarded over $100,000 in damages as well as attorney's fees and costs incurred in the lawsuit.
Defended clients against claims for $1 million in damages in a dispute about the management of a related family-owned business.
Successfully defended commercial tenant in eviction lawsuit filed by landlord; recovered attorney's fees from landlord.
Successfully pursued employer's trade secret claim against former employee, recovering jury award of compensatory and punitive damages, and an injunction barring former employee's use of trade secrets.
Successfully pursued clients' former accountant for negligence and breach of fiduciary duty, settling claims midway through multi-day jury trial.
Successfully pursued real estate contract warranty claims against seller of commercial property, with the court awarding over $550,000 in damages and attorney's fees after a multi-day trial.
