Janice joined McEwen Gisvold as an associate in 1990 and became a partner in 2001. After focusing her practice on litigation matters for the first 5 years of her career, Janice changed her focus to real estate transactions. Janice has an expertise in working with various lenders in the documenting and handling of complex real estate finance transactions and in work-outs, foreclosures, and receiverships. Janice represents large and small lenders in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho in the documentation and negotiation of commercial and combination commercial/residential transactions, including home builder developments, low-income housing and retail, warehouse and industrial commercial real estate.

Representative Transactions

  • Outside general counsel to a large mortgage lender and insurance company with respect to its lending activities in 48 states.
  • In recent years, Janice has represented lenders financing hundreds of millions of dollars on transactions in Oregon and other states.
  • Represented lender in portions of the re-development of low-income housing at the Columbia Villa in North Portland.
